Personal Thought on Media Use
Media is implant into our daily aggressively
nowadays. It is being brought up to everyone with the advance of technology. The
Old Media or Legacy Media are traditional means of communication and expression
that have existed since before the advent of the new medium of the Internet.
Industries that are generally considered part of the old media and broadcast
are cable television, radio, movie and music studios, newspapers, magazines,
books and most print publications. While the new media is defined as an interactive
forms of communication that use the Internet, including podcasts, RSS feeds,
social networks, text messaging, blogs, wikis, virtual worlds and more.
Apparently, old media is slowly
being taking placed by the new media. Yet, there is not denying old media still
have its own attractive way to keep the certain user groups. Why new media has been used so widely? In my
own opinion, it is because of the technology and internet advancement in this
e-society nowadays. New media consist of a lots of internet usage and can
easily to reach by all range of people in everywhere. For instance, a news
happen in Malaysia can be spread to the whole world within seconds by using the
social networks while it maybe just known by Malaysian if written in newspaper.
New media is so popular and acceptable
by all people because of new media offer a greater diversity of ideas and
viewpoints, and it has injected new vitality and competition into news. There
is a very obvious phenomenon of increasing of the used of new media of social
networks. Trends of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Blogger, Tumblr and etc not
only attract all the attention of the world in the aspect of socializing, but
also company. There are lot of company change their advertising direction from
printed media or normal TVC to social network. The increasing of awareness of
social network also connect the whole world together. Social network also
increase the opportunities for all people to show their talents and also chase
their dream as open a small online business or make an own page to promote
themselves to make them famous. Yet, there are also some hidden danger of the
use of new media as it is too widely used and has been cause annoying by too
much spam and online advertisement inserted alternately. As new media matures,
it will take over the social responsibilities of old media. It is due to old
media is slow, detached and monolithic.
